Possible new mix and maybe podcasts, Crystal Tokyo gets a facelift

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to anyone who still reads this blog or happens to come across it. I just want to update my situation.

But first I'd like to say thanks for all the compliments and kind words over the years. It's hard to believe that even in 2006 people were still asking me about Crystal Tokyo. No one really asks anymore, haha, but I'm glad a lot of people enjoyed my mixes. So to all you guys I have some good news!

I might be making a return to the mixing scene, as I have my eye on a DJ Mixer I want to buy. This will make mixing so much easier (not to mention more fun!) as I would actually be able to play with the track EQ and some effects.
Only problem is my "new mixes" will be full of old tracks, I haven't kept up with trance music at all so I've stagnated.

I got an iPod Touch for Christmas and it's really opened the world of podcasting to me. I never really paid attention to them in the past but since I've got the iPod I've been on an electronic music podcast downloading spree.

I'm going to be seeing Gareth Emery on Jan 1 in Vancouver. I seriously had never heard of him until a saw an ad of his gig in Vancouver. I've listened to a couple of his mixes and I think it's gonna be great. I saw Ferry Corsten in July and it was a dream come true, he's the guy who got me into trance music in 1999 and 10 years later I see him live!

So if all goes well I'll have a new mix to present to you, it's tentatively called "Intelligent Control". If I were to compare it to my other mixes I think it'd be closer to Trancient Moonscapes and Moonlight & Rain. I know a lot of you guys want me to go back to the Crystal Tokyo style, I hope I'll be able to put out a Crystal Tokyo II out for you guys...

BUT in the meantime check this guy out Sorasu: http://sorasu.blogspot.com/
His Tranquil Sessions are great and I recommend his Summer Repose Volume One, I've had it on repeat. You can get his podcast mixes from the iTunes store as well.

And speaking of podcasts, I've given Crystal Tokyo, Moonlight & Rain, and Trancient Moonscapes a technical facelift. If you use iTunes or listen to your music on iPods, I've just made m4b format versions of these mixes which includes chapter selection. Basically so you'll be able to skip to a specific track in the mix. I'm currently not at home (I'm with my family for the holidays) so I'll upload these new versions of the mixes in January.

You can find the current versions in the posts below from mediafire, and don't forget to check out my Canada Line set.

I'm also thinking of putting my mixes on an rss feed and podcasting them if I start doing them regularly enough, but I may be getting ahead of myself.

New Mix! Canada Line

For the download link, just scroll to the bottom of the post.

New mix is out, and unfortunately it's rather short, 6 tracks in all, just like the "unfinished" Scenic Route. I guess I just don't have it in me to make 12 track/70 minute mixes anymore. I guess I still have it in me, 11 tracks at 54:54.

Anyway, this one is called Tsushima Masaki presents Garden City Sessions - Canada Line ~Blueprint~
Actually it's Canada Line ~Scenic Route~ now.

Why did I name the mix this? Well, I live in Richmond, BC (part of Vancouver), and Garden City is a road and area in Richmond, also, it just sounds good. The Canada Line part is because today it was just announced that the new subway/rapid transit service Canada Line will open in two weeks (August 17). The Canada Line connects Richmond to Downtown Vancouver and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) via train. A very big deal for not just us living in Richmond but people travelling to Vancouver via air.

I basically just put this mix together all in one two days. I may expand on it some day, that's why it's subtitled "Blueprint."

The mix is in the same vein as Kyoto Sessions - Scenic Route, as it's house instead of what I used to mix, trance. Scenic Rotue was actually never completed, as I only mustered 6 or so tracks in that mini mix, I suppose Canada Line ~Scenic Route~ is the completed version.

Every song is produced by a Japanese electronic artist, as was the case in Scenic Route. Scenic Route and Canada Line are meant to be samplers to Japanese style house and Nu Jazz (Electronic Jazz). I suppose I should have named it Japan Line though, ahaha.

I hope I haven't let anyone down, expecting another trance mix. I think the days of mixing trance music are behind me. I tried and failed last year to re-spark the Crystal Tokyo flame.

Then again, I bet not too many people still remember that little old mix that appeared in 2003.

I usually provide tracklists and cue sheets with my mixes for easy listening... but this time I think it's more fun if people try to piece together the songs I used. I'm thinking tracks 2, 3, 6, and 7 will be the hardest to ID.

New way to download Crystal Tokyo!!

I don't know why I didn't think of this a long time ago... use some download site like rapidshare or megaupload to host my mixes... Especially since I can't seem to fix my torrent tracker.

Anyway, I'm in the process of uploading Crystal Tokyo, Moonlight & Rain, and Trancient Moonscapes, as well as a little hidden mix to www.mediafire.com

I hope this enables more people to listen to my mix, but thinking about it now Crystal Tokyo is already 7 years old...
